くつかけステイ中軽井沢とは
旅人が草履や馬の沓(くつ)を神にささげて旅の平穏を祈ったことに由来する「沓掛(くつかけ)」という言葉。
かつて宿場町として栄えていた中軽井沢は「中山道沓掛宿(くつかけじゅく)」と呼ばれていました。
古くから旅人たちの休息の地であった中軽井沢で50年の時を重ねてきた古民家を、伝統建築ならではの趣のある魅力を生かしつつ快適な空間にリノベーションを施しました。
２０１７年夏
「沓掛」の名をつけ、今を生きる人々の休息の宿・山里の魅力を感じさせる伝統的な和食を味わえる和製オーベルジュ「くつかけステイ 中軽井沢」として誕生しました。

What is [Kutsukake Stay]?
The word “kutsukake” comes from the tradition that the travelers dedicate their sandals and horse shoes at the end of the day to the god to pray for the peace on their journey ahead.
Back in the history, Naka-Karuizawa was once prospered as a post town,
was called “Nakasendo Kutsukake-Juku”.
Naka-Karuizawa has long been a place of rest for travelers.
Kutsukake Stay Naka-Karuizawa, opened in 2017, reborn as a Japanese-style auberge, with the renovated Japanese traditional architectural comfortable building of more than 50 years with the most of the unique charm remained.
Named “Kutsukake” to welcome today’s travelers with the same old spirits
where you can enjoy the traditional Japanese cuisine that makes you feel the charm of the local natures surrounded.
